Why is AI literacy needed right now?

AI is a great helper, but using it also involves risks. In many organisations the tools are already in use, whether or not their use has been guided. It is important for every employee to understand what information can be entered into AI, how to evaluate the content it produces, and in which situations using AI carries particular risks.

The EU AI Act requires organisations to take measures to develop their employees’ AI literacy. In practice, this means that employees must have a sufficient understanding of AI and its use in relation to their tasks and the ways AI is used. The course has been built to support organisations in developing AI literacy in line with the AI Act.

Start using AI with confidence

A ready-made online course helps employees use AI safely, responsibly and effectively in their work. The course is suitable for all employees, regardless of prior AI experience.

What will you learn on the AI literacy course?

The course covers themes such as:

  • what AI is and how it produces content and answers
  • what information can be entered into AI services
  • why information produced by AI must be evaluated critically
  • what kinds of risks are associated with using AI.

The aim of the course is not to turn anyone into a legal expert or an AI guru, but to give practical know-how for safe, responsible and smooth use of AI, whatever your role.

The European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) aims to promote trustworthy use of AI in Europe. The regulation lays down common rules for the use of AI so that AI is used fairly, appropriately and transparently. Article 4 of the AI Act requires providers and deployers of AI systems to take measures to develop their employees’ AI literacy. The measures must take into account, among other things, employees’ skills, experience and education, as well as the kinds of AI systems used in the organisation.

The training supports organisations in developing AI literacy in line with the AI Act. It provides a good foundation for developing the skills of all employees at a general level. The course does not address specific AI tools or the particular needs of organisations or roles; organisations must arrange any additional guidance and role-specific training separately.

The training is built to give everyone a basic understanding, regardless of role. It therefore also suits employees for whom AI is not part of everyday work. The solution is also easy to link into new-employee onboarding.

The package is billed annually, and the price depends on the size of the organisation, i.e. the number of course participants. The price includes the Finnish and English versions of the course.

What does the online course service include?

  • Self-paced training in Finnish and English. Completing it takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the learner.
  • A pedagogically designed, interactive course. It combines practical examples, videos, tasks and interactive exercises into an easy-to-absorb whole.
  • Reporting of course completions. You get real-time data on completions, so you can also demonstrate later when each person took the training. Alternatively, you can export the course to your own learning platform and handle reporting there.
